Amusement Park Accident

Amusement Park Accident Attorneys
While amusement parks and traveling carnivals offer excitement, fun, and entertainment, they also pose hazards that can injure someone seriously and even kill. Personal injury attorneys with expertise in amusement park accident cases cite alarming statistics. Between 1997 and 2000, the estimated number of amusement ride-related injuries treated at U.S. hospital emergency rooms rose from 8,000 to 10, 800 per year, according to a report issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPDC). Most amusement park injuries happened to children 10-14 years old (17.9%), with children 5-9 (12.6%) and 15-19 years old (13.8%) next. However, many victims were very young children four-years-old and under (6.3%).
Though it is the best “official” source of information on amusement park safety currently available, the USCPSC report does not include injuries that required medical care but not a trip to an emergency room, nor does it include incidents from seven of the nation’s most popular theme parks. No federal agency has direct authority to monitor the safety of rides at permanent amusement parks. Some parks and carnivals report injuries to state regulatory agencies, but the reporting criteria vary from state to state. For example, New Jersey requires even minor bumps and scrapes to be reported, while Ohio lets parks keep accident records confidential unless a rider dies or is immediately admitted to a hospital. Accident data for large theme parks is particularly well-protected. Florida’s theme parks, which account for 20 percent of all U.S. amusement park business, are exempt from state regulatory laws. Right now consumers have no way of finding out how many guests are injured seriously on rides at popular theme parks in Florida such as Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando.
Amusement park accidents and injuries can be caused by a variety of factors, from negligent guests who break the rules or deliberately ignore specific ride safety instructions to slip and falls, mechanical failure, ride design flaws, and negligence on the part of the park either from operator error or improper maintenance. When amusement park injuries or deaths occur, a thorough investigation and evaluation of the cause(s)–conducted by a personal injury attorney with direct experience handling carnival or amusement park accidents and injuries–is always the best way to proceed. Once the cause of the amusement park injury is determined, a decision can be reached whether or not to pursue a lawsuit or other legal option.

What Client Says About Us
My case was recently settled this holiday season with attorney Brian Roller. All I can is wow they are such an amazing and attentive firm. I had the pleasure of having Luz and Margaret as the assistants on the case and they were absolutely efficient. They were always available and answered all my questions in a timely manner. I received a more than great settlement and couldn’t be anymore thankful than to have had them represent me on my auto case. Would definitely use them again and million times after that if needed.
